What is a Wicky?
"Wicky" was a term used to describe lighthouse keepers, as it was their job to light the lights and trim the wicks. As artists we believe in this spirit of making light, with rolled up sleeves and your own two hands.
The Wickies produce theater created by Anna Nemetz, Lana Richards and Allison Snyder. Our mission is to resourcefully create theater by using a magical and scrappy lens to explore the everyday.
We create original performances through collaboration, focusing on both individual playwrights and collective adaptation and devising. Our work celebrates the humorous, the banal, and the uncomfortable. We shine light on the parts of life that are hard to see, and make light of the parts of life that are sometimes too heavy to carry; in doing so we intimately and tenderly connect to our audience.
